Tales from the Kitchen: Behind the Curtain @ TLily 1/16

At TigerLily we always try to have a good time filled with laughter and fun. The Kitchen @ the Hollywood Studio Bar & Grill acts as our “green room.” We @ TigerLily are always running in and out of the kitchen making sure the show is running just the way it should and more often than none some of the coolest funniest and awesome things are happening on stage and off stage simultaneously! You never know who you are going to run into! After 5 plus years TigerLily has become more than a show it’s a place comedians and comedy fans know they can drop by to see some of their favorite people, have a laugh on or off stage and hey just have a good time!

“Tales from the Kitchen: Behind the Curtain @ TigerLily”

Comedy Minglings

**2nd TL of 2012 and the fun keeps happening! thanks to all the people who came out and laughed it up! We love the support! We have some fun line ups planned!

**One of the fun things about TigerLily is seeing all the comedians who come to support. As we run back and forth from the kitchen making sure things run smoothly we love overhearing some of the funniest and weirdest riffs that may or may not make it on stage one day. This week the kitchen was packed with comedians like Joe Mande, Hannibal Buress, Howard Kremer, Steve Agee, The Walsh Brothers, Ron Babcock, Karl Hess, Barry Rothbart, Robert Buscemi just to name a few!

** Also in the kitchen were Ron Babcock & Lindsay Ames discussing a cool new web series about dates they have created. We @ TL were privy to one of the episodes they were filming and gotta say it’s hilarious and features some cool people, believe us you’ll love it!

** TL favorites Barry Rothbart and Pete Holmes discussing the super awesome podcast Holmes puts on “You made it Weird” have a listen http://www.nerdist.com/podcast/you-made-it-weird/ If the question is ever “keep it crunchy!” or keep it crispy!” The answer people will always be “Keep It Crispy!”

**Justin Ian Daniels in residency this month has been killing it on stage, this week he followed comedy genius Dana Gould and wowed the audience with stories of his bitchy cat and had us feeling way more tolerant about the needs of those who are special.

Caught in the Act

We were thrilled to have Hannibal Buress drop by the show, always a treat when he comes by! he had the audience in constant guffaws with a story that made us all rethink any trip to a party in the Hollywood Hills.

TL favorite Rob O’Reilly wowed the crowd with a character/sketch. He played a chauvinistic comedian who ends punchlines with pelvic thrust and always leaves a seat for the father he never knew. Then his “father” (played by Chris Walsh) shows up and well let’s just say it was pretty fantastic!

Resident MC for the month Blaine Capatch and the always awesome Dana Gould stop and pose for the camera while they hang back in the kitchen to catch up and catch the show.

Co-founder and producer of TL our very own Melinda Hill shared a hilarious and surreal story from her trip to Hawaii that involved the image of Sean Penn & Eddie Vedder making dinner.

The lovely Margie Mintz sits pretty in the kitchen while she prepares for her set which reminded everybody how dangerous and scary it was to read Sweet Valley High! Margie also runs a fun show every Sunday night called French Toast @ Taix in Echo Park you should all check it out!

Tommy Johnagin pretty much wowed the crowd with his killer set. If you have yet to see Tommy live then we suggest what’s the deal? You’re definitely missing out

Pete Holmes has the talent to make us laugh always, this time he had the crowd laughing with tears about the absurdity and creepiness of breast milk!

Sean Patton is magic. If anyone was born a headliner it was him he weaves together tales and characters that leave you wanting more while also trying to catch your breathe from laughing so hard, he’s like a safe drug and well we’re hooked!

To give everybody an example of what it looks like to be hanging out in “the kitchen” here are TL friends Robert Buscemi, Chris Walsh and Rye Silverman chatting it up before Rye’s great set!

Thanks to everybody! We’ll see ya Monday!
