Tales from the Kitchen: Behind the Curtain @ TLily 1/23

At TigerLily we always try to have a good time filled with laughter and fun. The Kitchen @ the Hollywood Studio Bar & Grill acts as our “green room.” We @ TigerLily are always running in and out of the kitchen making sure the show is running just the way it should and more often than none some of the coolest funniest and awesome things are happening on stage and off stage simultaneously! You never know who you are going to run into! After 5 plus years TigerLily has become more than a show it’s a place comedians and comedy fans know they can drop by to see some of their favorite people, have a laugh on or off stage and hey just have a good time!

“Tales from the Kitchen: Behind the Curtain @ TigerLily”

Comedy Minglings

**3rd TL of 2012 and the fun keeps happening! thanks to all the people who came out and laughed it up! We love the support! We have some fun line ups planned!

**One of the great things about TigerLily is seeing all the comedians who come by to support. As we run back and forth from the kitchen making sure things run smoothly we love overhearing some of the funniest and weirdest riffs that may or may not make it on stage one day. This week the kitchen was packed with comedians like Paul Danke, Karl Hess, Barry Rothbart, Danny Solomon, Howard Kremer, Ricky Carmona, Tony Sam Tom Sibley just to name a few!

** Also in the kitchen was Tony Sam who will be on the show Jan 30th catching up with pals and zombie-fying all the comedians with his fun new phone ap.

** NY comedians (be it visiting or newly moved to LA) were out in full force stopping by to see pals on the show like Mike Recine, Andy Haynes, Nick Turner and Greg Barris. TigerLily is a great supporter of the NY scene there are a lot of great comedians who will be visiting in the coming months be on the look out for our part 2 guide of who’s visiting to come out next week

**Blaine Capatch is the resident host for the month and has just been the best, he can make the audience feel at home and we love him! There has been talks and request to make Blaine our resident host for as long as we can have him! I think we will be seriously thinking about it!

Caught in the Act

The always hilarious and awesome John Mulaney stopped by to prepare for his Conan performance on Wednesday (which he rocked). Mulaney is a treat to see live and we love when he drops don’t forget watch, DVR , record via vhs if you still have one, his one hour Comedy Central Special “New In Town” premiering Saturday Jan 28th @ 10pm!

TL favorites NY Comedians Greg Barris and Nick Turner play up their “fake” FB feud for the camera. Both fellas are having residencies @ Tiger Lily as well both fellas also are super funny and pretty fantastic! Catch Barris @ TL (Jan 30th, Feb 6th, 13th) Catch Turner the whole month of February!

The lovely JC Coccoli and fellow “Lady of Monday” had a great set and we just love her! As always after TigerLily on Mondays the thing to do is drop by her cool show Keep It Clean @ Public House on Vermont Ave. It’s a Monday Night tradition filled with lovely ladies and laughs!

Co-founder and producer of TL our very own Melinda Hill preps for set while resident MC Blaine Capatch watches in shock and awe!

Brooks Wheelan had a fantastic set where he shared the pros and many cons of using Twitter @ work! Brooks along with TL booker Jazz have a new monthly show For Shame! where comedians reveal the shameful music obsessions of their past and then make fun of the videos in all their ridiculousness! Next show Tuesday Feb 7th @ nerdmelt features Greg Proops, Kumail Nanjiani, Pete Holmes, Jonah Ray + Come on down ! get tixs here http://www.nerdmeltla.com/tickets/index.php?event_id=149

David Huntsberger is definitely a comedian everybody should know. Smart, articulate and hilarious he has an amazing talent to weave together funny characters and stories that touch on controversial topics (religion anyone?) that not only make you laugh but actually enlighten you.in a way you wouldn’t expect at a comedy show. We adore David!

If you ever wondered what it looks like to be a comedy booker, well we all have our quirks and unique routines. For example always need a line up easily available where comedians can peek. Plenty of pens cause no matter how neat you write it changes will be made. Phone to light comedians. Camera to take pics, plenty of gum, but rarely if ever can you sit down for the whole show. What we do love is when comedians doodle on the line up! A thanks to Matt Kirshen for this one! :)

The always grandtastic Sean O’Connor closed the show and amazed the audience with his take on the old pick up a hitchhiker who happens to be a ghost folk lore tale, let’s just say it has something to do with fetishes.

We love when Kumail Nanjiani comes by the show we can always expect a good time and plenty of laughs! If you don’t already you should stop by Wednesdays to catch Kumail and Jonah Ray host the Meltdown show @ nerdmelt ! It is one of our favorites! You can also listen to Kumail and his wonderful wife Emily Gordon discuss video games with awesome guest in their podcast “The Indoor Kids”

Thanks to everybody! We’ll see ya Monday!
